Namib desert camping safari itinerary:

Day 1, Sesriem, the tour group travel out of Windhoek over the Eros mountains and along scenic roads, on the groups way south-west to the Namib desert. The safari group also pass over part of the Naukluft Mountains the Khomas Hochland range on the the groups journey today and head down from the country's central plateau by way of the beautiful Remhoogte pass.

Coming out of the mountains the group reach open plains and from here it is only a short distance to the next stop, the tiny town of Solitaire. We will stop here for some refreshments before continuing on through desert scenery. The group cross some open grass savannah and farmlands before the terrain begins to give way to the immense red dune desert of the Namib. The driver aim to arrive at Sesriem during the late afternoon and the Namib safari group have time to drive out to one of the nearby Sossusvlei to watch the colours on distant mountains to the east, glow and change.

Day 2, The group pre-dawn start to see the sunrise in the sand dunes and drive a further 60 km into the Namib desert and have the safari groups breakfast as the colours grow across the landscape.

To reach Sossusvlei itself, the group have at least 5 km walk through the sand hills. The walk is like nothing else, in the cool of the morning, with soft sunlight just beginning to play over the dunes creating a sharp light and shadow contrast across the whole desert. Ancient mineral pans, stunted camel horn trees and the chance of seeing a gemsbok or maybe an ostrich make the photo opportunities perfect.

The group spend the morning in and around desert camp, also visiting "dune 45", and as the day wears on the group return to the town for lunch and to escape the heat of the afternoon. As the day cools off in the late afternoon visitors will take a short excursion to the Sesriem Canyon.

Day 3, End of tour, After breakfast the safari groups journey begins, over the mountains and along scenic roads, back to the capital city. The group will travel back by different roads, travel-ling by way of the massive Gamsberg Pass in the Khomas Hochland mountain range on the groups way back to civilization.

The driver-guide are due back into the city around 16:00 and the Namib dunes camping tour group will be dropped off at pre post book accommodation.
