Reserve a 9-day overlanding tour from Durban to Cape Town (vice verse) on the Garden route in South Africa. Visitors will enjoys sights such as the cold Atlantic currents of Cape Town, CPT and pristine white beach around. The group travel through Southern coast with plenty of atracttions and game drive safaris to the crystal, warm water of the Indian Ocean & unspoiled sandy beaches of Durban, DRB in South Africa.

Overland tour for adventure seekers to endeavour & explore the route between Cape Town / Durban thoroughly and enjoy many nature reserves activities and encounter en-route with famous Big 5 Africa animals, overview itinerary:

Day 1

De Hoop nature reserve (D)
Departing from the Cape Town at 08h30, follow the rugged coastline through the numerous fishing villages to Hermanus - well known for offering the finest land based whale watching (in season). Our next stop is the southern most tip of Africa, Cape Agulhas, where the warm Indian and cold Atlantic oceans meet. This afternoon will spend time game watching in the De Hoop Nature Reserve, acclaimed for its unique fauna, flora and spectacular scenery. Overnight in Kambati river resort comfortable bungalows or similar.

Day 2

Oudtshoorn - Knysna (B L D)
An early start, the group leave the coast and cross the mighty Outeniqua Mountains to enter the dry Karoo Interior. Follow the "famed and funky Route 62" toward Oudtshoorn where the group visit the Cango Caves; one of the world's great wonders. Visitors will also visit a commercial Ostrich farm to learn more about these huge flightless birds. Late this afternoon the overland group traverse the Outeniqua Pass and then travel through the Lake District en-route to our Log Cabins hidden in the heart of the Knysna forest. Accommodation at Kleinplasie holiday resort in Oudtshoorn or similar.

Day 3

Garden Route (B ) - on the Durban to / from Cape Town overland tour through South Africa.

These days will be spent exploring this renowned region and its many attractions. Walk in the forest in search of the elusive Knysna Lourie. The group will visit sun-kissed beaches and will enjoy a boat trip on a boat around the Knysna Lagoon and through the Heads in search of dolphins and whales (weather permitting). One night dine at a restaurant in the vibrant woodcutter town of Knysna. (Lunch and Dinner own expense). Accommodation at Island Vibe Knysna or similar.

Day 4

Port Elizabeth - Storms river(BLD)
Today the group will travel the "Old Passes Road" to the Tsitsikamma Coastal National Park where they will walk part of the acclaimed "Otter Trail". Continuing along the coast, and pass through Port Elizabeth en-route to camp at the Storms river where the group stay in comfortable cabins at Stormsriver, Tube 'n Axe backpackers lodge in South Africa or similar.

Day 5

Addo Elephant National Park(B L D)
This day will be spent exploring the Park. Renowned for its herds of African Elephant, Black Rhinoceros, Cape Buffalo, Dung Beetle's, and other interesting species this Park is one of Africa's conservation success stories, the adventurous group overnight at Addo, San parks for the night.

Day 6

East London(B L)
Back to the coast today, the group wind through the frontier area first settled by the 1820 settlers. The group will pass through numerous towns that were once the epitome of colonial Africa before making for East London. This afternoon the group will enjoy a guided township tour before heading to a local shebeen where the group will try the local dishes whilst listening to traditional Jazz music. Dinner own expense, the adventure group overnight at Away with the faries, a Hogsback-backpackers for the night or similar.

Day 7 - 8

Wild Coast (B L D)
Today the group travel into an area once designated as a Tribal Homeland during the apartheid era (Transkei). Nelson Mandela was born here, and the route takes the group past both his birthplace and the holiday house that he had built to replicate his prison house. This afternoon arrive at the remote, secluded resort to spend time on the beach and enjoy the surf. To stretch legs the group will conduct a short walk along the Wild Coast. Accommodation on these nights is part of a rural community project and is rustic, clients may be expected to share - more than 2 per bungalow at Malealea lodge in Southern Lesotho or similar.

Day 9

Durban (B L D)
A reasonably long drive today, the overland group pass through the scenic hills of the Eastern Cape, dotted with rural villages where women work in the fields and men tend their cows as they have for centuries. The group journey then takes us past the many resorts of the Kwazulu - Natal South Coast before entering Durban, South Africa's holiday city and home to Africa's largest harbour. The driver-guide stop tonight is just north of Durban at the Dolphin Coast Inn. Situated literally on the beach, this is the perfect place to unwind after the many days of traveling. Tonight the group enjoy a "braai" on the patio before falling asleep to the sound of the crashing waves at Happy Hippo, Durban backpackers .
