The Savute channel is adjacent to the Okavango Delta and the Chobe national park in Botswana, also known as the elephant capital of the world with its luxurious Kwando-Linanti tented camps and under canvas lodging. In summer rainfalls, the Savute attract predators like lions, hyenas and cheetah when thousands game like zebras are visiting the region.

Savute is a relict marsh in the southern part of the park, where a channel, now dry, once brought an annual pulse of water to the dry land. Open spaces, several water-points for animals and palatable grasses however ensure that Savuti rewards the visitor with spectacular game-viewing. Lions and hyaena's are particularly plentiful, and their troubled relationship is the subject of the film “Eternal Enemies”, a wildlife classic by Derek and Beverley Joubert. A bird-watching trip to the game park in the summer months, when rain inundates the marsh, can be especially rewarding for safari visitors.

Kwando-Linanti District: 

Kwando-Linanti area lies to the north of the Savute channel along the Linyanti floodplain, at the tail-end of the Chobe River. With beautiful Kwando lagoon and river-frontage, this remote and secluded area is rich in bird-life and game, although concentrations cannot rival those of the Kwando river. One is not subjected to the pressure of other Kwando safariers here that one is at more accessible parts of the park however.
