Day 1 - Maputo
Welcome to Mozambique!
A representative will meet you at the Maputo International Airport and transfer you by air-conditioned vehicle to your hotel. The Southern Sun Maputo is the only beachfront hotel in Maputo. The rich Latin heritage of this Maputo is echoed in the continental decor throughout the hotel. There are numerous restaurants & beach bars within easy walking distance of your hotel. Walk along the beachfront and experience the "vibe" of Maputo and all the colourful and interesting curios on sale by local hawkers.

Day 2 - Half Day Maputo Tour
After a delicious breakfast, your guide will collect you from your Hotel reception for a half day tour of Maputo, including historical and cultural sites of Maputo: Railway Station; Central Market; Municipal Town Building; Samora Machel Memorials; Iron House; Natural History Museum; Fort; Polana Hotel; The Saturday Bazaar or Arts & Crafts Fair. The approximate duration will be 3 hours.

Day 3 to 4 - Ilha de Mozambique (Island of Mozambique)
After breakfast your guide will meet you at the hotel and transfer you to the Maputo International Airport, where you will check in for your flight to Nampula, Northern Mozambique.
On arrival at Nampula Airport you will be met by your driver and transferred to Ilha de Mozambique (2-3hrs drive).
Terraco das Quitandas is a guest house whose architecture and decor are translated into a mixture of beautiful details, inspired from the East all the way to Europe. The guesthouse offers six individually decorated suites with en-suite bathrooms and air-conditions in all rooms. Ilha de Mozambique was declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991, the island was the country's first capital. We encourage you to explore this interesting island during your stay!
We depart for a tour (approx 1hr drive), to see the Church of Nossa Senhora dos Remedios (first temple that Dominicans raised in Mozambique in 1579), and ruins of the Summer Palace of the Governor (1765). The tour will end with a lunch at the magnificent beach of Carrusca.
Experience fascinating mixes of African, Arab and European culture & history displayed in the churches and mosques. There are also beautiful colonial buildings, small traditional houses, an impressive fort, old Portuguese houses (dating back to the 16th century) and interesting museums. Observe the local residents and their incredibly diverse faces. Did you know that, The Fortaleza São Sebastião is the oldest non-indigenous
building in the southern hemisphere? Walk among fascinating old buildings, architecturally awe-inspiring. The island is divided into two parts, the "city of stone" (about 400 buildings, including the major monuments) and "City of Macuto" (1,200 homes of poor construction) in the southern half of the island

Day 5 - Pemba
Your driver will take you on the scenic drive to Pemba town, driving through the beautiful countryside with opportunities to take photos along the way (approx 5-6 hrs drive). We arrive at our hotel in Pemba, the Pemba Beach Hotel & Spa. The Pemba Beach Hotel is an idyllic East African-style resort with luxurious, air-conditioned rooms with breathtaking sea views. Savour vibrant local specialities and gourmet - style international fare at the relaxing terrace restaurant, recharge in the Niassa Bar, cool down in the infinity pool.

Day 6 to 7 - Ibo Island
After breakfast you will be driven to the airport by shuttle. Check in for your flight to Ibo Island, just north of Pemba, in the unspoilt Quirimbas Archipelago (25 min flight). You will fly over the some of the 32 tropical islands that make up the Archipelago, a breathtaking experience. On arrival, you will be assisted with a transfer to the lodge.
Ibo is just one of a string of 32 tropical islands that make up the Quirimbas Archipelago. Encounter empty stretches of beaches and explore some of the world's richest coral reefs. Explore the coastline fringed by tropical islands on an ancient Arab Dhow, built to the same design as the vessels that sailed a thousand years ago from India. Guests will partake in a multitude of experiences. Immersed yourself in the ancient culture of Ibo and interact with wonderfully hospitable islanders. The lodge encompasses three magnificent mansions (over 100yrs old) with walls over a meter thick and lofty high ceilings. Many rooms many open onto private verandas, decked with hand crafted furniture and soft cushions covered in vibrant local fabrics.
Experience a guided journey describing the history of Ibo Island. Old forts and ancient romantic buildings are full of intriguing stories and legends. Crumbling colonial homes and elegant architecture dating back to the 1500′s, all have a page in Ibo’s history book. Once Mozambique’s mighty trading centre, Ibo Island has remained all but forgotten to the outside world for almost a century. Wander around this colonial little island town and hear tales of pirates and prisoners, turtle shells and silver. Explore old forts and ancient romantic buildings where you can almost feel the history and fascinating stories crunching under your feet.
