Kakuli Bush Camp

Kakuli meaning ‘Old Buffalo Bull’ was the nickname given by the local people of the valley to the well-known Norman Carr. This campsite which forms part of the Norman Carr Safaris is known as the only true bush camp experience open in Luangwa’s green season.

Four lovely en-suite safari tents are elevated on a stretched riverbank of the Luangwa River and when the river gets high, guests can experience both walking and boating safaris. Kakuli Bush Camp offers exceptional game viewing opportunities where lions, leopards, hippos and crocodiles can be spotted as well as the spectacular views from the campsite, overlooking the confluence of the Luwi and Luangwa Rivers.

Game viewing
Kakuli Bush Camp offers a mixture of safari activities which can either be conducted by game drives or by foot. Guests can decide on the day which one they want to do. Safaris can also take place in the evening as this is a great time to spot predators in action. Kakuli Bush Camp is also open for the Rivers and Rainbow green season for boating and walking safaris.

The dining chitenje (lounge) and bar is constructed of reed and thatch forming the centre point of the camp. It is located on a wooden deck with spectacular views over the river and a perfect place to relax and watch the wildlife meander by.

The beautiful campsite of Kakuli comes with four comfortable walk-in safari tents, each with en-suite bathrooms made with natural materials.
