The Redcliff lodge accommodation consists of 8 spacious en-suite standard Redcliff family chalets. The lodge enjoys entrance to the nature reserve by boat through the breathtaking Mpata Gorge, only reachable from Luangwa Boma in Zambia. Redcliff lodge in Zambia also offers game walks in the vicinity of the lodge or in the Lower Zambezi National Park.

Entertainment & Dining Area
The central entertainment area with lounge, dining room, bar and veranda/deck overlooking the river is the ideal spot to view hippos and crocodiles on the Zambezi River. Meal times are flexible to suit guest requirements and activities.
The lodge property (about 100 ha) extends along 1.5 km river frontage.

Swimming Pool

The Redcliff Lodge's indigenous vegetation forms the garden, with huge trees providing a shady canopy above the beautiful lawns. The swimming pool is part of the comfortable surroundings.

Eco-Friendly

Environmental sensitivity, along with an appreciation for the privacy of our guests, were considered during the design of Redcliff Zambezi Lodge. Solar panels are used to charge 12 volt batteries for major lighting, while pathways and chalets are illuminated by paraffin lanterns, ideally providing a soft and rustic atmosphere. 220V power is available 24 hours per day, generated through "green power".

Connectivity

The lodge has a state-of-the-art broadband satellite e-mail and internet link as well as cell phone reception. DStv is available for those who really feel the need to remain in touch with the distant world!

Boats

One double decked pontoon boat and six fishing boats are available for your use. Guests are always accompanied by an experienced guide on all water excursions.

Rooms

Chalets at the Redcliff Lodge are conveniently spaced under the large, shady riparian trees. The lodge can accommodate up to 16 guests.

Four tent-roofed chalets (2 beds) and two family chalets (4 beds).

Chalets enjoy stunning views of the Zambezi River, spaciously designed to combat the heat and humidity even during the hottest months.

Activities

Angling
The Redcliff Zambezi Lodge is best known for it's superb tigerfishing, with the tigerfish being rated one of the strongest fighters kilogram for kilogram. The Redcliff's fishing licence covers all its guests.

Some of the best catches have been made off the jetty just below the lodge. Other fish species found in local waters include Cornish Jack, bottlenose, silver catfish, bream and vundu - over 30 species in all.

Fly-fishing in the Zambezi river for tigerfish has become a popular activity. On average Tigerfish of 4-7 kg are caught. The Lower Zambezi is regarded as a premier angling destination.

The lodge supports a catch-and-release policy, though exceptions are made for special fish dinners. Fibre mounts/replicas are available for trophy fishing.

Full Day River Excursion (Including Angling)

Travel upstream into the scenic Mpata Gorge, accompanied by our experienced guide, ideal for fishing, photography and game viewing. Elephant, hippo, crocodiles, antelope and birds are abundant in this area. Lunch is served on the riverbank.

Bird-Watching

Here you will find an abundance of avifauna, including Fish Eagles. Home to more than 500 indigenous bird species and migrating birds from the northern hemisphere, it is a great destination for bird watching. A few rare species include the Tiata Falcon, Angola Pitta and Pel's Fishing Owl.

Game Viewing

Day trips into the Lower Zambezi National Park are great for viewing lion, elephant, buffalo and leopard. Large herds of zebras sightings provide greater excitement.

Cultural Tours

Try our Half Day walking safaris and experience an authentic African village and meet the local headman. Unlike dedicated tourist villages, this is an actual functional village where the realities of the African way of living may be observed.
