On our Kruger and Cape Town Tour, spend your first night in the bustling city of Johannesburg, known locally as 'Egoli', the city of gold. Johannesburg offers a wide range of tours and excursions from arts to culture to a rich history. Feeling lucky? Starting the following morning bright and early you will depart for the 3-day Kruger tour and get to experience close-up encounters with the "Big 5" on a Kruger National Park Safari. Game drives in open vehicles ensure you get the best view of your safari. Returning to Johannesburg there will be plenty of time to stop and explore some sights along the way. Keep that camera close by as we get to take in some amazing views from a viewpoint over the Blyde River Canyon where one can witness the Three Rondavels.

Day 1 - Arrival in Johannesburg
Upon arrival at the OR Tambo International Airport, you make your own way to your hotel located within walking distance from the airport. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at your Johannesburg Hotel (airport)

Day 2 - Johannesburg to Kruger (B, L, D)
Sawubona! Welcome to South Africa. Your Kruger Short Break starts at approximately 06h00 – 06h30 this morning from your hotel. We depart Johannesburg and head off on an adventure of a lifetime. A truly unique African experience unfolds as we enter the Greater Kruger ecosystem arriving at our campsite or lodge in time for lunch (approx 8-9 hours travel time).
Thornhill Safari Lodge welcomes you into the heart of the African bushveld on your arrival, setting the tone for a memorable safari adventure. Take the time to unwind and take in the sights and sounds of the wilderness, before heading out on a late afternoon and early evening game drive. We track elusive creatures of the night while being guided by state-of-the-art spotlights.
You are in the midst of one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world, with animal and bird species that have captured the fascination of travellers for hundreds of years. This is the time to take advantage of all the great photographic opportunities and capture the beauty of Africa on film forever. On return from your drive, we enjoy a traditional African Boma dinner around the campfire, while being serenaded by the sounds of the African night. (Weather permitting)
Day 3 - Kruger National Park Full Day Game Drive (B, D)
Look forward to an early rise as our guides meet you, ready for a day of exploration in the celebrated Kruger National Park. The Park offers an unrivalled wildlife experience that ranks with the best not only in Africa but around the world. Its rich history dates to 1898, and its goal has always been to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld. Today, this national treasure offers 2 million hectares of unspoiled African wild.
.Truly the flagship of the South African National Parks, Kruger remains home to an impressive number of species ranging from 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 517 birds and 146 mammals. Look forward to a safari experience that unfolds from the moment you enter Kruger Park and explore the best game drive routes the Park has to offer.
Your game drive takes you to a remote site where we stop for a picnic brunch. After brunch, the rest of the day is spent discovering Kruger Park’s various viewpoints and waterholes. We return to the comforts of Thornhill Safari Lodge, where we enjoy yet another taste of traditional African cuisine before retiring to the peaceful sounds of the African bush.
Day 5 - Nature Walk & travel to Cape Town (B) (flight excluded)
Rise early and head out on a morning bush walk. Guided by a qualified nature guide, we learn about nature's finer details like bird, tree, and spoor identification. Transfer back to Johannesburg (600 km, approx 9-10 hrs). There's plenty of time to stop and explore along the way. Take in amazing views at the viewpoint over the awesome Blyde River Canyon and view the Three Rondavels.
On arrival in Johannesburg, you will board the late afternoon flight to Cape Town.
Day 6 to 7 - Free Days in Cape Town (B)
The day is at your own leisure to explore the city. With so much to see, you would have a hard time deciding what to do.
