Join in our 9-day Bali and Gili Islands tour for an unforgettable journey in Indonesia and discover the tropical treasures that these destinations have to offer.
Upon arrival in Denpasar, the main gateway to the island of Bali, this exciting journey kicks off in the heart of Bali where you will be taken to the cultural hub of Ubud. Uniquely distinguished by its beautiful, layered rice paddies, cool fresh mountain air and steep ravines in the central foothills of the Gianyar regency, Ubud is considered a fantastic wellness destination where an abundance of yoga retreats are found. After a few nights stay in Ubud you will island hop to the Gili Islands, consisting of three tiny islands, Gili Trawangan is the largest and most popular out of the three. The perfect opportunity to unwind and enjoy a full day's fun of water sports, snorkeling in the beautiful warm ocean waters to sipping on some sundowners at any of the lovely beachfront restaurants.
Traveling back to Bali, you will spend your last couple of nights in Seminyak, with a fashionable beach and home to luxurious resorts, fine restaurants and boutiques in a secluded ambience. We have also included a unique secluded beach hopping excursion to the island of Nusa Penida taking you to some of the most iconic and treasured beaches in the area. All this can be experienced on this awesome 9-day Bali and Gili Islands tour!

Day 1 – Arrive in Bali / Indonesia
Welcome to Bali, Indonesia. From the airport you will head to your hotel in Ubud, for a tranquil and relaxing stay.
Overnight in Ubud.
Day 2 – Ubud (B / L / D)
After breakfast you will visit Ubud Palace, one of the most prominent places in Ubud. It has a well preserved Balinese architecture and charming garden settings. From here you will explore Ubud Market, locally referred to as ‘Pasar Seni Ubud’. Here you can find beautiful silk scarves, lightweight shirts, handmade woven bags, baskets or hats, statues and many other hand-crafted goods. The Ubud market also serves as a setting for the Hollywood movie Eat Pray Love, which shows a scene where Julia Roberts strolling through the stalls which are frequently visited by visitors in real life. Naturally bargaining is
essential. From here you will visit the famous Bali swing to awaken your inner child, swinging over the rice field and lush jungles of Bali. You will end your day by having dinner at a local restaurant.
Overnight in Ubud.
Day 3 – Kintamani/Tampaksiring (B / L)
You will be picked up late in the evening for your Mount Batur sunrise trekking. After a three-hour drive to the starting point, you will continue the journey on foot to the top of the mountain to experience the spectacular sunrise. Your breakfast will be served on top of the mountain. From here you will head back to the starting point and enjoy your well-deserved lunch, overlooking Mount Batur and its famous lake. After enjoying your lunch at a local restaurant, you will drive through an impressive paddy rice terrace at Tegalalang before heading to the Tirta Empul Temple, also known as the holy water temple. The rest of the day you can enjoy at leisure.
Overnight in Ubud.
Day 4 – Bali/Gili Trawangan (B)
After breakfast and check-out, you’ll be transferred to the harbour for your transfer to Gili Trawangan island by fast boat. Motorised transport is not allowed on the island, which makes it the perfect place to unwind. You can reach your hotel by foot or take a horse cart at leisure. Lunch and dinner can be had at any of the lovely beachfront restaurants at leisure.
Overnight in Gili Trawangan.
Day 5 – Gili Trawangan (B)
You’ll enjoy your day on the island by doing water sports, snorkeling in the beautiful warm water, relaxing in a local spa, walking around, cycling or just lazing about with a cocktail and some wonderful eats. Lunch and dinner can be had at any of the lovely beachfront restaurants at leisure.
Overnight in Gili Trawangan.
Day 6 – Gili Trawangan/Bali (B / L / D)
After breakfast you will board you boat back to Bali. Upon your arrival, you will drive through to one of the biggest cultural parks Garuda Wisnu Kencana, dedicated to embrace as well as preserve the art, cultural, culinary and spiritual aspect of the island. After lunch, you will head to Uluwatu visiting one of the main temples in Bali, Uluwatu Temple, to watch the traditional Kecak Dance during sunset. The Kecak dance has no other musical background besides the chanting of male dancers, intoning a “keh-chack” polyrhythmic choir duringmost of the performance. You’ll end your day by having a scrumptious seafood dinner with your feet in the sand at a beachfront restaurant whilst watching the sun set over magical Bali.
Overnight in Seminyak.
Day 7 – Karangasem (B / L / D)
Today you will visit Taman Ujung and Tirta Gangga Royal Water Garden, the lavish water garden features 1.2ha of pools, ponds and fountains surrounded by neatly cut lawns adorned with stepping-stones, ornate statues and tropical gardens. After lunch you will visit Penglipuran village, best known for its well-preserved culture and village layout. You will end your day by having dinner at a local restaurant.
Overnight in Seminyak.
Day 8 – Nusa Penida (B / L)
Today you will start early in the morning and get on board your fast boat to be transferred to Nusa Penida, the largest of three islands off the south eastern coast of Bali, the other being Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. On this island you will visit a secluded, white sandy beach with turquoise waters enclosed by a steep cliff and headland, Kelingking beach. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will head to Angel’s Billabong beach, the estuary of the rivers that is calm during low tide and uniquely shows the emerald green water. In that same area lays Broken beach that has a range of high cliffs that surround the sea, making it look like a giant pool. Before heading back to the main island, you will visit Crystal Bay, a quiet arch of white-grey sand set amid rocky, scrubby outcrops, with a small jagged islet off-shore and rugged Nusa Ceningan in the distance. The majestic Mola Mola, or sunfish, comes to cleanse here, meaning divers and snorkelers are also lured here in season. You will be transferred back to Bali mainland in the afternoon and the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure.
Day 9 – Depart Bali / Indonesia (B)
Sadly, it is time for you to leave Indonesia and board your overnight flight from Bali to South Africa.
