From Pyramids to Pharaohs to mighty temples, your tour starts in Cairo where you will visit the remnants of the Old Kingdom, known as the "Age of the Pyramid Builders" to view the Great Pyramids of Giza as well as the famed Sphinx statue. Your visit also includes a tour of the Egyptian Museum (or the new Grand Egyptian Museum opening in 2025) where you will have the opportunity to view mummies, including the famous treasures of the Pharoah Tut Ankh Amon.
Your Private Egypt Tour continues with a flight to Aswan to board your Nile Cruise. The next 3 nights are spent drifting down stream towards Luxor, while stopping at temples and museums along the way. The most spectacular of which includes the Philae Temple and the Mortuary temple of Hatshepsut. Temples along the Nile are adorned with hieroglyphs that can be deciphered by your accompanying Egyptologist. The journey ends in Luxor, where you will find the Valley of the Kings, known for its rock-cut tombs where the powerful pharaohs were buried along with their golden treasures.
This tour itinerary is designed for departures leaving from Johannesburg on a Sunday. Should you wish to depart on any other day of the week then the itinerary will be slightly amended to meet the Nile Cruise departure and Egypt Air flight schedules.

Day 2 - Pyramids, Sphinx, Grand Egyptian Museum, & Khan El Khalili Bazaars
Buffet breakfast at the hotel, followed by a full-day guided tour to visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
The Great Pyramids of Giza (Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus) were regarded by the Greeks as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. A single pyramid was built using approximately 2,300,000 blocks, each weighing an average of two and a half tons. In the face of such immensity, one cannot help but feel the wonder and awe that so many writers and artists have sought to convey over the centuries. The Pyramid of Cheops is particularly fascinating, as its interior burial chambers are open to the public.
Not far from the Pyramids stands the Great Sphinx of Giza, which dates back to the time of Chephren (c. 2620 BC). Hewn from natural yellowish limestone and standing 65 feet high and 187 feet long, this unforgettable statue combines the head of a pharaoh with the body of a lion. A short visit to a papyrus institute or perfume shop can be arranged after the tour. Afterwards, drive back to the hotel to refresh and check out.
Lunch can be served at an Indian, Oriental or Chinese restaurant, followed by a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum for another unforgettable experience.
Step into the world of ancient Egypt with a tour of the highly anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum, home to some of the most valuable treasures of this remarkable civilization. Upon arrival, you will enter through the atrium, where you will be greeted by the colossal statue of Ramses II, before ascending the impressive Grand Staircase.
From the staircase, continue into the exhibition halls, which are arranged both chronologically (tracing history over time) and thematically (grouped by ideas and concepts). The museum also features multimedia and immersive experiences, making the visit far more engaging than traditional static displays. Your knowledgeable guide will accompany you throughout, offering fascinating insights into the magnificent statues, royal regalia and ancient monuments on display.
Through the museum’s windows, visitors can enjoy a direct view of the Pyramids, seamlessly connecting the museum experience with the surrounding archaeological landscape.
Visit all the major galleries, including the Tutankhamun exhibit, and admire the Solar Boats of King Cheops.
