Our Malawi Island Hopping trip is an adventure for your bucket list. A fully supported and catered kayaking trip staying on two of the lake's most pristine and preserved islands, Mumbo and Domwe.
Our Malawi Island Hopping Package covers eight kilometers of open water separating Mumbo Island from Domwe. On Mumbo Island barefoot luxury is the theme. There is everything you need and nothing that you don't. The camp is perched on high rocks overlooking the water and blends in with the African bush to create a Robinson Crusoe atmosphere of rustic charm.
Domwe Island Adventure Camp is basic but exclusive. The camp lies behind a small beach on the west side of this magnificent and wild island, offering sunset views over the lake with Mumbo Island and the mountainous edge of the African Rift Valley in the distance
Both camps are built using only reeds, timber, thatch, and canvas. The emphasis is on the beauty provided by Mother Nature, and on doing stuff like sea kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, and exploring on foot. Of course - these being islands this list also includes just doing nothing...
You have the choice of traveling between the islands by boat or paddling it yourself by kayak.

Day 1 Arrive in Lilongwe
Upon arrival in Lilongwe you will be met by our local representative and transferred to Cape Maclear where you will spend your first night in a cottage on the shores of Lake Malawi.
Overnight at Cape Cottage - Dinner Included
Day 2 Kayak or Boat trip to Domwe Island
Today you will depart for Domwe Island. You have the option of traveling to the island by kayak or by boat transport. Its a 5 kilometre distance from Cape Maclear to the island. Upon arrival on the island you will be welcomed by our lovely staff . All meals and activities are included in your stay. Spend the next 2 nights in a safari tent on Domwe Island.

Day 3 Full Day on Domwe Island
Take the time to relax on the beach or go snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of Lake Malawi.

Day 4 Kayak or Boat trip to Mumbo Island
Today you will depart for Mumbo Island. Again you have the option of traveling to the island by kayak or by boat transport. Its an 8 kilometre distance from Domwe Island to the Mumbo Island. Upon arrival on the island you will be welcomed by our lovely staff . All meals and activities are included in your stay. Spend the next 2 nights in a tastefully furnished tents on Mumbo Island eco-friendly camp.

Day 5 Full Day on Mumbo Island
Take the time to relax on the beach or go snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of Lake Malawi. A short walking trail is available on the island where you can spot some Spotted-necked Otters.

Day 6 Return to Cape Maclear
Today we return to Cape Malcear by Kayak or boat transfer. Spend your last night at the Cape Cottage before returning to Lilongwe airport.

Day 7 Depart Lilongwe
After an exciting journey on the Lake Malawi we return you to the airport in Lilongwe where you will catch your flight back home.
