The Tau Camp Kalahari Desert is situated inside the world-famous Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) right on the edge of the beautiful Tau Pan. Guests are accommodated in 9 rooms under thatch, designed and built to remain cool in the summer months and warm in winter.
Each room is ensuite with a separate flushing toilet, double sinks and an inside and outside shower. The rooms are airy and spacious with large double or twin beds, a lounge area and a viewing deck that has amazing views of the wide-open spaces and beautiful big skies that this area possesses – truly special and captivating. One of the rooms, situated close to the main area is a family room. This unit has an extra room with twin beds, in all other respects, the family room is identical to the other rooms.
The main area is open plan, under thatch. The building and décor have been planned and finished to blend into the local landscape. There is the dining area and a lounge/bar area as well as a curio shop.
The main deck houses a plunge pool and has commanding views of Tau Pan and beyond, and the nearby permanent waterhole where animals come to quench their thirst.
We operate our game drives using a guide and tracker, this adds to the experience on two levels.
As the Tau Camp Kalahari Desert is within a national park we have to follow the regulations. The area is ecologically sensitive and as such we are not permitted to drive at night nor off-road. In addition to game drives, we do offer informative nature walks with our trackers who are all Bushmen from the Central Kalahari – a worthwhile experience.

WAIVER OF SINGLE SUPPLEMENT:
The single supplement is waived at all desert camps regardless of number of nights of stay.
REPEAT GUEST SPECIAL:
5% discount - only for the guests who have stayed before (not applicable for new travellers in the same booking with repeat guests). The camps and date of stay need to be provided for verification purposes.

LONG STAY DISCOUNTS:
Mid Season: We offer a 5% discount off the Rate for a total of 6 nights or more at different camps
High Season: We offer a 10% discount off the Rate for a total of 8 nights or more at different camps
HONEYMOON SPECIAL:
Based on twin-sharing rates we can offer the following for honeymoon couples, who must send their wedding certificate via their agents before travel.
We can allow the special to be used within a year of the date on the wedding certificate.
January, February, April: 75% off for the bride on accommodation only
March, May, June - December: 50% off for the bride on accommodation only

Should we not receive the wedding certificate prior to the couple's arrival in the camp itself, or if the couple is unable to present the certificate in camp (a photocopy is accepted), the discount will be removed and the couple will be charged in camp for the balance.
WEDDING ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL:
Based on twin-sharing rates we can offer the following for couples celebrating their wedding anniversary, who must send their wedding certificate via their agents at the time of confirmation.
We can allow the special to be used only during the month of travel on the wedding certificate.

CHILD POLICY
At Tau Pan during Mid and High Season (1 Apr - 30 Nov) we have no minimum age. During Low Season we impose a minimum of 6 years of age.
Children under the age of 18 are not allowed to stay alone without an accompanying adult. Guests aged 16-18 years of age are allowed to stay with their parents in the family room but will not receive a discounted rate.
We have 1 family room at Tau Pan. The layout of these family rooms comprises of 2 sleeping rooms (the second of which is smaller) and one shared bathroom. These are booked on a first come first serve basis and are prioritised to families with children under the age of 18. THESE ARE RESERVED FOR FAMILIES ONLY; NOT FOR TRIPLE/QUAD-SHARING FOR ADULTS
We have one "floating" extra bed in the camp. This can be utilised in the family room for 2 adults and 3 children, OR, if the family room is occupied by 4 persons, this extra bed can be utilised in a standard room/tent to form one triple (2 adults and 1 child). We only allow a maximum of one triple to be booked (2 adults and 1 child) on any given night (in addition to the family room), please ask your reservations consultant if it is available. We will otherwise, be exceeding the permitted limit of the concession.
Children have to be at least 12 years of age to take part in a mokoro or walking safaris. Guides and camp managers reserve the right to disallow children from participating in activities if they feel that the individuals are not able to understand and adhere to the safety instructions laid out.
Specialist private guides for children available from the fee table above – a highly successful safari idea.
We do not have cots, high chairs or baby/child-friendly equipment, families will have to bring their own. Please speak to your reservations consultant for more information on bringing these extra items with Moremi Air's luggage allowance or for more details on what we can source locally for your family’s stay in camp (both are subject to additional charges).
CHILD RATES
Children are considered 6 – 15 years old inclusive. When the child reaches 16 years, the full adult rates apply.
VALID only when booked into the family room, and a maximum of 3 children in the family room can receive the reduced rate. Alternatively; VALID only when the family room is already booked, and the extra bed is still available, then a triple (2 adults and 1 child) with a maximum of (one) 1 child can receive the reduced rate.
We must be advised from the onset if there are children in the booking who are requesting the children’s rate. If we are advised later, we CANNOT guarantee the reduced rate.
• We reserve the right to ask for proof of age.
• Can be withdrawn at any time without notice.

CHARTER FLIGHTS
All flights are to be booked as part of a booking with camps.
Each leg can have up to to 3 stops en route.
These flights should take place between 10:00hrs and 15:00hrs.
Inter-camp times are only released the day before travel, at 4 pm. All light aircraft flights will be scheduled in accordance with international flights with sufficient time for check-In, as long as sufficient notice is given (i.e. at the time of confirmation.)
You may, however, request for an earlier/later flight time, however, this CANNOT be guaranteed. The only way to guarantee a specific time that you require is to book a private charter. We have separate rates for this (please enquire).
All flights should be booked at least 48 hours in advance or a private charter rate MAY apply - please check when booking.
The scheduling of all flights remains entirely at the discretion of Moremi Air.
Conditions of Carriage
1) Types of Luggage
Luggage MUST be in soft-sided bags as luggage compartments on the light aircraft flights are limited and all luggage must be sufficiently malleable to fit into these spaces. Moremi Air provides guidelines on acceptable luggage. Please ask for a copy if you need one. We CANNOT carry hard case bags
2) Luggage Weight Restrictions
STRICT luggage restrictions of 20kg PER PERSON – inclusive of camera equipment and hand luggage. Should you have excess luggage please inform us beforehand to include the excess weight charges on your invoice.
Excess baggage will cost 50% extra on the below seat rates(0-15KG) Then 100% for (15KG-40KG)
Should luggage be over the allowed weight limit, on arrival, Moremi Air reserves the right to charge the excess, on the spot.
In the instance where luggage is overweight and requires an additional seat to be purchased, we cannot guarantee that it will be on the same aircraft as the guests.
3) Body Weight Restrictions
Passengers weighing more than 100kg may incur a surcharge or be required to purchase an additional seat. To clarify if this is the case, please enquire with your reservations consultant at the time of confirmation.
Due to safety requirements, it is mandatory to provide all weights at the time of confirmation.
Should body weights be over the allowed weight limit, on arrival, Moremi Air reserves the right to charge the excess on the spot.
