The Tau Camp Kalahari is situated inside the world-famous Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) right on the edge of the beautiful Tau Pan. Guests are accommodated in 9 rooms under thatch, designed and built to remain cool in the summer months and warm in winter.
Each room is ensuite with a separate flushing toilet, double sinks and an inside and outside shower. The rooms are airy and spacious with large double or twin beds, a lounge area and a viewing deck that has amazing views of the wide-open spaces and beautiful big skies that this area possesses – truly special and captivating. One of the rooms, situated close to the main area is a family room. This unit has an extra room with twin beds, in all other respects, the family room is identical to the other rooms.
The main area is open plan, under thatch. The building and décor have been planned and finished to blend into the local landscape. There is the dining area and a lounge/bar area as well as a curio shop.
The main deck houses a plunge pool and has commanding views of Tau Pan and beyond, and the nearby permanent waterhole where animals come to quench their thirst.
We operate our game drives using a guide and tracker, this adds to the experience on two levels.
As the Tau Camp Kalahari is within a national park we have to follow the regulations. The area is ecologically sensitive and as such we are not permitted to drive at night nor off-road. In addition to game drives, we do offer informative nature walks with our trackers who are all Bushmen from the Central Kalahari – a worthwhile experience.

Tau Pan Camp is situated inside an enormous 5,280,000 ha Central Kalahari Game Reserve in a remote location of the Kalahari Desert. The camp maintains its own airstrip, roughly 15 minutes' drive outside of camp, that serves light aircraft flights from Maun and Kasane. This lodge is reachable by 4WD vehicle from Maun via Rakops (approx. 7 hours' drive).

All accommodations include the following:
- Private viewing deck with outside seating and waterhole views
- Spacious lounge areas with armchairs, tea and coffee facility, charging station (international plugs) and writing desk
- Open hanging space and shelving for clothes, digital safe, spare blankets, ceiling fan within mosquito net, insect repellents and an emergency horn
- En-suite, indoor and outdoor shower, flushing toilet, double vanity basins, gowns, hot and cold-water supply.
- All rooms can be configured as a double (super-king, extra-length bed) or twin (two 3/4 beds, extra length beds)
- Plug charging points suitable for sleep apnea machines but not hair dryers

Family Friendly
- The Family Suite comprises of a standard en-suite unit (with outdoor shower) connected to a smaller room sharing one bathroom with a separate toilet.
- Minimum age is 6 years (except 1 Apr - 15 Nov when there is no minimum age).
- Families traveling with children aged 6-11yrs must book private activities
- Extra bed available allowing for three children in the family suite.
- Special activity program for children and early mealtimes on request
